The arbor at the beginning of the front entrance walkway of the Golden Pineapple is famed with flowery trumpet vines in Spring and Summer.If you are quiet and wait patiently, you will likely see feeding hummingbirds. The Golden Pineapple sign sits amidst a colorful cutting garden which continues to evolve, changing with every season (shown here at the peak of summer).

As you stroll around the grounds, you will notice there are many little "nooks and crannies" where you can stop, reflect, read a book, meditate or nap. Your hosts, Tom and Jennifer have designed the grounds to allow for tranquility, whether you only have ten minutes to spend on the way to a party or the entire afternoon to enjoy the setting .

The soothing sounds of the garden fountains and bird song provides a tranquil backdrop from which to observe birds splashing in the birdbaths and butterflies dancing on the flowers. The sounds of crickets and tree frogs will lull you to sleep at night. On sunny days, there is always a part of the garden in the sun, but there is also always ample filtered sun and shade on the deck or throughout the property.

At night the deck is lighted with small white lights and on cool evenings Tom sets a fire in the chimenia.

While there is much exploring available in Port Jefferson, some guests choose to visit their family and friends in the garden. The back yard is private and offers many larger tables and lounge chairs.It also provides a great space in which to unwind and renew oneself after a conference or social gathering .It is amazing how easy it is to enjoy someone else's gardens. It is relaxing when you don't have to get up and water a parched plant or even mow the lawn. Watch the sunlight and clouds throw their shadows while listening to the chirping of the birds.

The Deck, on the side of the house, also offers opportunities to enjoy other people's company and also serves as a place to enjoy breakfast alfresco in the warmer months. Note the giant elephant ears next to the steps going up to the deck.

The area below the deck provides a wonderful backdrop for many annual events held at the Golden Pineapple such as the Annual Folk Music Fest, usually held in July.

The gardens are not limited to trees, shrubbery and flower gardens. Tom and Jennifer, also grow and maintain their own organic vegetables and herbs which are staples of their daily diets.

No matter what the season, the warm and friendly atmosphere at the Golden Pineapple makes it the perfect respite for an overnight or an extended stay.
